At the time of the Prophet (PBUH) Bani Mu’away bin Malek bin Awf, from Al-Aws tribe, constructed this mosque. Afterwards, its name was changed to Al-Ijaba (the Response) Mosque. It was named after them (Bani Mu’away Mosque), then its name was changed to Al-Ijaba Mosque as the Prophet (PBUH) prayed two rak’as (kneeling) in it, then asked God for certain things. In Sahih Muslim, the Prophet (PBUH) one day came in from Al-Aliya, and passed by Bani Mu’away Mosque. He entered and kneeled two rak’as. We prayed with him. He called God for a prolonged time, then came to us, and said: “I asked my God three things, and Allah gave me two, and held one. I asked God not to destroy my nation with drought, and he gave it to me, and asked him not to destroy my nation with drowning, he gave it to me, and asked him not to make them cruel on each other, but he did not answer that.”
