Al-Rawdah Al-Sharifah is the spot located between the house of the Prophet (PBUH), i.e. the house of Aisha, God Bless her, and the Holy Minbar (rostrum).
The Prophet (PBUH) said: “The area between my house and my minbar is one of the gardens of Paradise.” This spot was endorsed by historians who recorded the history of the Holy Prophet Mosque. There have been several narratives identifying the Al-Rawdah Al-Sharifa.
It seems that it is bordered from the east by the house of Aisha, God Bless her, from the west by the Holy Minbar, from the south by Qibla (Muslim prayer direction facing Ka’ba), and from the north by the line parallel to the end of the house of Aisha, God Bless her. The space area of Al-Rawdah is estimated at 330m2 (22m long, 15m wide).
Prayers at Al-Rawdah Al-Sharifaare better than in any spot of the Mosque, except for the prescribed prayers, which when offered in the front line, even if outside the Al-Rawdah Al-Sharifa, are better than within it.
Visitors to the Mosque of the Prophet (PBUH) are keen to pray Nafila (voluntary prayers) within the Al-Rawdah Al-Sharifa. Bin Al-Qasim said: “The most preferred position of Nafila prayers in the Mosque of the Prophet (PBUH) is the Al-Mukhallaq (scented) Column, and the first line for the prescribed prayers.”
