مسجد السجدة

Al-Sajda Mosque (Al-Buhair, AbiThar, Al-Shokr)

This mosque was called several names, including Al-Sajda (prostration) Mosque and Al-Shokr (thanks) Mosque, as the Prophet (PBUH) prayed two rak’as at this place and prolonged prostration in one of them, until Abdul Rahman bin Awf, who was with him, thought he was deceased. When he stood upright from the prostration he told Abdul Rahman about his thought that he was deceased, then told him: “Gabriel gave me the tiding (good news) that whoever prays on me, God will pray on him, and whoever says peace be upon me, God will say peace be upon him. Nowadays, it is known as Abi Thar Mosque.
