Bani Khatma are of Al-Aws tribe. Al-Ajooz Mosque was named Bani Khatma; a woman of Bani Saleem, then of Bani Dhafar bin Al-Harith. Maslama bin Abdulla Al-Khatmi was quoted as saying that the Prophet (PBUH) prayed in Al-Ajooz Mosque at Bani Khatma by the grave. Al-Ajooz Mosque is by the grave of Al-Baraa bin Ma’aroor; one of those who witnessed Al-Aqaba. He deceased before the immigration, and the Prophet (PBUH) declared legacy by one third of his properties, and ordered his grave to be directed towards Ka’ba. Abdulla bin Al-Harith was quoted that the Prophet (PBUH) took ablution from the sub-well of Bani Khatma at the yard of their mosque, and prayed in their mosque.
