House of Abu Taleb

Abd Manaf bin Abul Muttaleb bin Hashem bin Abd Manaf, known as Abu Taleb, is one of the well-known figures of Mecca, heads of Quraish, in general, and Bani Hashem, in particular. He is the uncle of the Prophet (PBUH). He was nick-named Abu Taleb after his eldest son, Taleb. He took over the position of watering the pilgrims prior to the mission. After the death of his father, Abdul Muttaleb, he looked after the Prophet (PBUH), sponsored him as young, and protected him when adult against the Quraish infidels. For him, he went through hardships, and patiently hoped for his victory. Abu Taleb’s defence of the Prophet (PBUH) continued until he passed away. His absence and loss affected the Prophet (PBUH), who said: “Quraish had never attained anything I hated until Abu Taleb passed away.”
