Mount Al-Mukaimen

Mount Al-Mukaimen

The word Al-Mukaimen in Arabic is a miniaturization form. Mount Al-Mukaimen is a small reddish mountain that could be mistaken for several small hills separated by mountain routes and paths of valleys therein.

This small mountain is separated from Al-Jumaa by a large valley that has a huge bridge, on top of which Jeddah Road passes by Thul Hulaifa.

This valley ends at Al-Aqiq just before Orwa Well to the west of Al-Harra Al-Gharbiya (western black mountain route), overlooking Al-Aqiq, where the houses of Abu Huraira and his children were located.

At the estuary of this valley their farms were located. The flood of Al-Mukaimen comes from the western mountains, passing through a vast plain (Al-Jathjatha Plain).

This plain was a protectorate, and the camels of the Prophet (PBUH) used to graze in it at the time when it was fertile. In it the Oranis (people from Oraina) committed treachery. They stayed in Medina and got cured after they were ill. They asked the Prophet (PBUH) to permit them to take off with the camels and herdsmen to drink their milk and urine.

Afterwards, they drank and fattened, and killed the herdsman of the Prophet (PBUH) and took his camels. They were brought to the Prophet (PBUH), and he cut off their hands and feet, and poked their eyes, and left them at Al-Harra Al-Gharbiya (the western black stone mountain route) from the side of the two minarets to ask for drink, but without finding anyone to give them water to drink, as they did with the herdsman of the Prophet (PBUH).

They are the ones on whom the Almighty Allah revealed his verse: “Indeed, the penalty for those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger and strive upon earth [to cause] corruption is none but that they be killed or crucified or that their hands and feet be cut off from opposite sides or that they be exiled from the land. That is for them a disgrace in this world; and for them in the Hereafter is a great punishment.” Mount Al-Mukaimen was mentioned in a prophetic heritage (If Al-Mukaimen is flooded, that is spring time).
