Rouma Farm and Well drilled by a man from Muzayna Tribe, then sold it to Rouma Al-Ghifari, of Bani Ghifar tribe, this well takes its prolific water from an ancient spring adjacent to it, which became obsolete and its water transferred to this blessed well. The followers of the King of Himyar used its fresh water, then the Prophet (PBUH) used its fresh water, and said about it: “Al-Muzani is a blessed well.” The Prophet (PBUH) also said: “Al-Muzani is a blessed pit.” This is an ancient well from the era of ignorance, named Rouma Spring, and Rouma Well. It is named after its owner, Rouma Al-Ghifari, who used to sell a bagpipe of its water against a Prophetic scale of dates. No other fresh water existed in the Medina except from this well. The Prophet (PBUH) said about it: “The one why buys Rouma Well should make his bucket with other buckets.” At that time, the Prophet (PBUH), requested its owner to appear and said to him: “Sell it to me against a spring in Paradise.” The man said to him: “O Messenger of Allah, me and my children have nothing but this well, and I cannot do that.” This news came of Uthman bin Affan, God bless him, who bought it from his in two installments; the first against fifty three thousand Dirhams. He agreed with the well owner to have alternately day after day. On Uthman’s day, Muslims used to take enough water for two days. Then he bought the second tier against eight thousand Dirhams, and gifted it all to Muslims Waqf (endowment). He came to the Prophet (PBUH) and said to him: “O Messenger of Allah, would you offer me what you offered Rouma; a spring in Paradise?” The Prophet (PBUH) answered: “Yes.” Prior to this, he has said: “The one who buys Rouma Well will have the equivalent in Paradise.” The well needed emptying and cleaning from the sand brought in by the forced of wind, and for its scarce water during the burning hot summer time. This was brought to the attention of the Prophet (PBUH), who said: “Whoever drills Rouma Well will have Paradise.” Uthman bin Affan drilled it also.
