Suraqa bin Malek incident

At that location they were chased by Suraqa bin Malek Al-Madlaji, in pursuit of the prize imposed by Quraish to anyone who brings the Prophet (PBUH). He almost caught them. When Abu Bakr saw him, he said: “We are done, O Messenger of Allah.”

The Prophet (PBUH) said to him: “Do not grieve, God is with us.” The Prophet (PBUH) prayed against Suraqa, so the legs of his horse slicked in the sand. Suraqa said: “I see that you prayed against me. By God, I will not chase you.” The Prophet (PBUH) prayed for him.

In another narrative, the Prophet (PBUH) said to Suraqa: “How about you wearing the bracelets and crown of Kisra?” When Persia and Al-Madaen were conquered and the Muslims took Kisra’s treasures as spoils, they were brought in by the companions of the Prophet (PBUH) to Omar bin Al-Khattab, who ordered to call Suraqa for him.

At that time he was over eighty of age,and over 15 years passed from the promise of the Prophet (PBUH). He put the bracelets and crown of Kisra on him, and he was a hairy man in the arms. So, he said to him: “Raise your hands and say Thank God, who took them out of Kisra bin Hormuz, and put them on Suraqa the Arabian.”
